Connection, CouragE, and a dash of tenderness to grow your own way
Yoga therapy is a holistic approach to healing that addresses physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. As a yoga therapist, I seek to promote an environment where my clients can explore - with curiosity and tenderness - what it means for them to live more vibrantly. Private yoga therapy sessions produce several benefits: they can enhance an existing practice, serve as a form of preventative care, be useful for rehabilitation, or act as an ally when living with disease. Each yoga therapy session is as unique as each individual.
Sessions begin with a grounding practice and conversation to understand your needs and goals. We will explore asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breathing practices), rehabilitative exercises, and mindfulness tools in an application uniquely designed for you. Our time together will conclude with restorative yoga for deep rest, a summary of the session and suggestions for home practice.
Yoga therapy can be beneficial for addressing a variety of issues. I have experience working with the following: anxiety and stress, depression, PTSD, chronic pain, insomnia, chronic fatigue, substance abuse and addiction, autoimmune diseases, life changing events or times of transition, and self-exploration of the mind, body and spirit.
To promote the well-being of my clients, I’m happy to work in partnership with other health care providers. If you feel yoga therapy could be valuable for you, please reach out to set up a free 20 minute phone consultation.
A note on teaching yoga as a white person:
Being a white person teaching yoga is really complicated. I am continually committed to trying to figure out how to offer this practice as a white person without appropriating a culture that is not mine and causing as little harm as I can. In my initial trainings I have learned primarily from white teachers. I have made a concerted effort to listen and learn from Indian and South Asian voices. I am committed to my personal practice and am grateful for the ways yoga has shown me peace and expanded my awareness beyond myself to help me to create deeper connections with others. I know I will make mistakes and have blindspots and I am open to input and suggestions. If you would like to learn more check out these resources:
Through my experience as a Birth Doula, I have been both humbled and astounded by the body’s capacity to do amazing things. I have learned that the strength of the human spirit can accomplish things never before thought capable.
With connection, honesty, bravery, and love, babies are born. There are so many paths to parenthood: as a couple, acting solo, with a surrogate, with science, or maybe by surprise. It is an absolute honor to support all forms and routes, and I am here to partner with you in your unique journey.

Yoga In The Childbearing Year
Prenatal Sessions - I am happy to support you, whether you’re working with me as my doula client with the included prenatal sessions, or seeking stand along prenatal sessions. Prenatal sessions build awareness and function in the core, including the pelvic floor. This work creates strength and stability in the glutes and legs, and space in the torso for breath, the chest and upper back to alleviate the back pain common with pregnancy. The sessions involve movements set to encourage optimal positioning of your baby for birth and poses that can be used during labor to support your body and aid in navigating your baby into the world.
Postpartum Sessions - These sessions are designed to support the postpartum body in healing from birth, gently rebuilding awareness, connection and function for strength. With a focus on the core - including the pelvic floor, abdominal muscles, and breath - sessions target areas of the body that may be weak or fatigued from pregnancy, labor, or new parenthood tasks. These sessions provide space to re-engage with one’s body with curiosity, tenderness and compassion. Healing and function recovery can take more time than the 9-10 months you took growing your baby. This is a space to connect with yourself, exactly where you are, and make intentional steps in the direction that serves your whole self.

Pelvic Floor Yoga™
Pelvic Floor Yoga™ is a yoga practice that brings awareness to the pelvic floor, understanding the relationship it carries with core muscles, and how these areas relate to the whole body through breath and movement. For a variety of personal, cultural, and social reasons, the pelvis and the pelvic floor can be mysterious. At its simplest, the pelvic floor helps us go to the bathroom, creates core stability, and, in a female body, holds in organs. Range of movement is an indicator of muscle and joint health, and the pelvis is no exception. Just like any other group of muscles, we want to be able to contract and fully release the muscles that weave through our pelvis. Pelvic Floor Yoga™ , created by Leslie Howard, is a practice that can help a practitioner strengthen and tone the pelvic floor when needed, as well as create length and space when there is tension.
As a certified Pelvic Floor Yoga™ teacher, I have supported folks with such issues as incontinence, pain in the pelvis or low back, genital pain, and other ailments. This work includes breath awareness and practices, as well as yoga postures to bring more understanding to this part of your body. Developing a deeper understanding of how the body breathes can address conscious and subconscious breathing tendencies that may be contributing to unease in that area.
